The HREIT delegation conducted unannounced monitoring visits to Karataş Şehit Yaşar Polat, 25 Aralık and Şehit Kerem Kurtoğlu Police Station Detention Centers affiliated to the Şahinbey Sub-Provincial Police Department of Gaziantep province as part of its national preventive mechanism mandate on November 12, 2024.

During the visits, information was first obtained from the administrative authority of the Centers. Treatment to and accommodation conditions of the detainees were also examined in the context of national and international standards.

As a result of the visits and interviews, a report containing the findings and recommendations will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
