The Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye delegation, headed by the Board Member Tayyip Uçar conducted an unannounced visit to Karabük T Type Closed Penitentiary Institution as part of its national preventive mechanism mandate on 22-23 September, 2025.

During the visit, information was first obtained from the authority of the center. Afterwards the delegation made observations and examinations by interviewing those who are deprived of their liberties and the personnel in charge. As part of the visit, treatment and accommodation conditions of detainees were examined in the context of national and international standards.
As a result of the visit and interviews, a report containing the findings and recommendations will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public. 

Following the visit, as part of the courtesy meetings, our Board Member paid visits to Governor of Karabük Mustafa Yavuz, Chief Public Prosecutor of Karabük Selçuk Akman and President of Justice Commission of Karabük Aynur Çelik.
