The HREIT delegation headed by Chairman Prof. Muharrem Kılıç, conducted a visit to Istanbul Airport Inadmissible Passenger Department as part of its national preventive mechanism mandate on January 20, 2023.

During the visit, firstly, a meeting was held with Istanbul Airport Civil Administration Chief Governor Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. İlker Haktankaçmaz. Afterwards, information was obtained from the authority of the center. The delegation made observations and examinations by interviewing detainees and the personnel in charge. As part of the visit, treatment and accommodation conditions of the detainees were examined in the context of national and international standards.

A report containing the findings and recommendations regarding the visit will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
