The HREIT Delegation made an unannounced visit to Semiha Şakir Sarıgöl Disabled Care and Rehabilitation Center and Family Counseling Center in Bolu as part of its national preventive mechanism mandate. Human Rights and Equality Expert Dr. Ertuğrul Yazar, Human Rights and Equality Assistant Experts Furkan Genç and Merve Habuloğlu, and Specialist Psychologist Aylin Öztabur attended the visit. The visiting delegation also included a physiotherapist from the Association for Children with Cerebral Palsy and a doctor from the Provincial Human Rights Board appointed by the Bolu Governor’s Office.

The delegation, received information from the authorities of the institution, examined the accommodation conditions on site.

Within the context of the visit, ‘The physical conditions of the institutions, the situation of vulnerable groups, health services and the measures taken for the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccination studies, nutritional conditions, social activities, daily life and communication with the external world’ were examined in the context of international standards.

After the visit, a report containing the findings and recommendations regarding the examinations and interviews will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
