The HREIT Delegation conducted an unannounced visit to Beyoğlu District Police Department in Istanbul as part of the national preventive mechanism mandate.

In addition to the institution staff, lawyers representing the Bar Associations also participated in the Visiting Delegation. Observations and examinations were made by face-to-face interviewing with the people deprived of their liberties and the personnel in charge. The treatment and accommodation conditions of the detainees were examined in the context of national and international standards.

As a result of the visit, report containing the assessments and recommendations regarding the examinations and interviews held during the visit will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
