The National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings

In paragraph (4) of Article 29 of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, “Each Party shall consider appointing National Rapporteurs or other mechanisms for monitoring the anti-trafficking activities of State institutions and the implementation of national legislation requirements.” provision is included.
Combating Human Trafficking Coordination Commission was established in accordance with the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, which was approved by Law No. 6667 dated 30/1/2016, and Article 5 of the Regulation on Combating Human Trafficking and Protection of Victims, which entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated 17/03/2016 and numbered 29656. In accordance with the 2020/1.2 decision taken at the meeting of the Combating Human Trafficking Coordination Commission dated 10.12.2020, Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye has been designated as the National Rapporteur in order to examine and report the activities carried out in the field of combating human trafficking.
In this context, annual reports will be prepared by our Institution, to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the anti-trafficking activities of public institutions and organizations, including the implementation of the National Action Plan for Combating Human Trafficking, to identify the deficiencies in the relevant legislation and to make an objective assessment of the formulation of comprehensive recommendations. The annual reports will be shared with relevant authorities and the public.
