Chairman Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kılıç gave information on the "Role of National Human Rights Institutions in the Protection of the Rights of the Elderly" in the first session of the "International Conference on Ageing", held in Ankara as part of the Project on Inclusion of Senior Citizens to Virtualised Environments with Life Long Learning Facilities.

Calling attention to the aging of the population on a global scale, Prof. Dr. Kılıç emphasized that national human rights institutions are an important institutional actor in protecting and promoting the human rights of older people. Prof. Dr. Kılıç indicated the importance of establishing a new monitoring mechanism for the rights of elderly people.
