The HREIT Delegation, consisting of Vice Chairperson Yılmaz Bölükbaşı, Assistant Experts Furkan Genç, Salih Günay and Merve Habuloğlu, visited Aksaray T Type Closed Penitentiary Institution as part of its national prevention mechanism mandate on 31.03.2022.

During the visit, information was first obtained from the authorities of the institution. Afterwards, interviews and observations were made with the detainees and the personnel in charge. The treatment and accommodation conditions of the detainees were examined in the context of national and international standards.

Within the scope of the visit, a meeting was also held with Aksaray Deputy Governor Mustafa Duruk, Chief Public Prosecutor Adem Aydemir and Aksaray Deputy Mayor Tayfun Çelik; and Aksaray Municipality Disabled Coordination Center was visited.

As a result of the visit, report containing the assessments and recommendations regarding the examinations and interviews held during the visit will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
