Follow-Up Visits Were Held in Kayseri As Part of The National Prevention Mechanism Mandate

Visits to detention centers were held in Kayseri with the participation of HREIT Vice Chairman  Alişan Tiryaki, Board Member Ünal Sade, Protection, the Coordinator of the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights Department Mehmet Aktaş and Human Rights and Equality Assistant Experts Asım Talha Doğan and Muhammed Emre Küçükşahin.

As part of follow-up visits to Kayseri Specialized Disabled Care Center and Kayseri Removal Center, ‘Situations relating to the physical conditions of the institutions, the situation of vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities  and the child kept with the mother, the treatment to the detainees, the health services and the measures taken for the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccination studies, nutritional conditions, social activities, daily life and communication with the external world’ were examined in the context of international standards, and; one-on-one interviews were held with people deprived of their liberty.

During the visits, where one-on-one interviews were held with people deprived of their liberty, examinations were made in the wards and other common areas in the centers. Covid-19 measures were taken into account during meetings.

As part of the visits, a meeting was held with Kayseri Governor Şehmus Günaydın and Chief Public Prosecutor of Kayseri Abdülkadir Akın.

A report containing the assessments and recommendations regarding the examinations and interviews held in detention centers will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
